Singapore Malaysia

It's about our holidays to Singapore - Malaysia
on January 15 - 20, 2009

January 15 : BALI - KUALALUMPUR
In hurry as always...although we still have many times left...but better arrived earlier at the airport, right ?..... And this was so very right, as then we faced a problem....at the fiscal counter...terrible !
Well...this is the brief story : Arrival in safe at the airport.....thanks God. Entering the international departure, walked to Air Asia Registration Desk....blablabla....then we got all the boarding pass...smooth. We continued to Fiscal Counter with confident I gave all the documents needed to the officer...all was ok...but wait...Farly couldn't get the free fiscal....whyyyy ???? The officer said, it's caused of the NPWP is under my name and only valid for me and kids....damn...what should I do. Prayed...prayed....prayed....after a long discussion...begging... finally got it.....Thanks God, Thanks Jesus ....!!! We walked into the waiting room with smile ...
We supposed to leave at 20.40pm by AK 905, but got delayed flight for another 45 minutes....nevermind after that terrible thing and also kids were enjoyed with free internet at waiting room ...
After 3 hours flight, we arrived in LCCT (Low Cost Carrier Terminal) at midnight.... Well, it's not as big as KLIA (but relatively new, as some parts still under renovation)... no complaint even we thank God to arrive in safe. It's good no queue at immigration and got the stamp ....took overnight at the airport in horrible situation...lot of people were waiting so...damn crowd !

January 16 : KUALALUMPUR - JOHOR BAHRU - SINGAPORE
At 05.55am, we did the registration for flight to Johor Bahru by AK 5270 at 07.55am, only 45 minutes to arrive at JB airport, took MAJU BUS at RM 3,5 per person, so RM 14 for all of us. From JB Airport to Larkin Bus Terminal, it took 45 minutes...that's ok. At Larkin Terminal we had lunch, simple lunch at RM 1 for nasi lemak, good enough, 2-3 each of us ....we liked it, but Vlady choosed 'soto ayam' at RM 3, he said it's not that good taste, he asked for nasi lemak then....We tried also Teh Tarik which only RM 1,5 for 1 glass. NASI LEMAK and TEH TARIK are very Malay (a must to try), just like Nasi Uduk in Jakarta. Mineral water's price here at RM 1,5 per bottle.
Afterward, we left looking for shuttle bus to Singapore...SBS 170 at SGD 1,90 per person, so SGD 7,60 for 4 of us...but when Farly paid with SGD 10, the driver didn't want to give back the rest...didn't know why.(suggestion : fix money is much better)....4 tickets were out from the machine...(tickets have to be kept, in case the bus leaves us, we still can take other bus - SBS 170 at no charge by showing those tickets).
Before reaching the Causeway we stopped at Malaysia Border, stepped up to immigration to get exit stamp...When finished our bus had left ....no problem we had the tickets...so we took other bus. Arrived at Singapore Border, stopped for immigration...filled up the immigration form and got the stamp. WELCOME TO SINGAPORE ....
Road to city, kids were so excited.....
Not that long then the bus stopped at Kranji....It's the 1st pleace we would try MRT. We were at Kranji and about to go to China Town, so we took MRT Jurong East, charged about SGD 1,6 plus deposit SGD 1, afterward to MRT Outram Park, charged about the same. Exit from Outram Park, asked kids to take the deposit...we left out....asked someone a direction to China Town....from Outram Park walked straight to the East along Eu Tong Sen Street .....Going to China Town from Jurong East better take MRT China Town as it's right below the apartement.
Arrived at China Town...so very crowd, lot of people that we couldn't easily find the apartment...just realized it was approaching the Chinese New Year...no doubt...
After trying to ask some people, finally we found it : UNCLE WONG - People's Park - No. 22-3, email : wongtomo@hotmail.com, mobile phone : + 6596752143). People's Park Apartment is a big building with 24 floors. Below the apartement is a shopping mall and MRT China Town. It's located at Eu Tong Sen Street, China Town - just beside of Furama Building - right side (before Havelock Road).
We met a friendly uncle and settled the payment rightly, at SGD 75 per night (family room), so we paid for 150 for 2 nights (normal rate SGD 80 per night, family room 4 people).
Took a nap ...around 5pm, we left for Esplanade and Merlion Park....started the journey :
From People's Park, we walked to the left, about 10 minutes met Under Pass of Clarke Quay on the left side, so we walked down following the sign (to the right). Only 5 minutes walked then we arrived at Boat Quay where many expatriates hanged out having tea afternoon by the beauty of the river... We walked through passing those people...seem kids started to get tired....made some picture from right side..left side...then we walked again...crossing the Cavenagh Bridge (it's one of the oldest bridge in Singapore) ...to Esplanade - Theatres on the bay (durian). We walked on the Queen Elizabeth Walk that led us to the Esplanade....photo and photo again....
Toar & Vlady forgot the tired after buying ice cream...yummyyyy...followed a path we arrived at Merlion Park a wellknown tourists icon.....photo and photo again..Toar and Vlady were so busy taking pictures....
Tried not to get dark, we started to walk passed under the bridge then followed the path of Fullerton Hotel (is a five star boutique hotel, located near the mouth of the Singapore River. It was originally known as The Fullerton Building, and also as the General Post Office Building). We walked around Raffles City is a large complex located in the Civic District, and got a little relax between the high buildings (in front of MRT Raffless). Approaching to dark, we left for dinner...wanted to have dinner at Lau Pa Sat Food Center....tried to ask some people the location, finally we found it....again I ordered mee ...Farly and kids choosed rice..
From Lau Pa Sat, followed the road to China Town.....got lost but no worry at all...this is Singapore ...safe and secure...don't worry... But the foot...damn tired !!!
Soon, arrived apartement took a little rest then shower....felt so fresh. An idea to walk around the China Town.... many people..many sales...big sales..cheap cheap 3 for ten..3 for ten.....till drop...Bought 'bakpao and soya bean milk just near the apartement lift....the bakpao was so good.
Back to room then slept like a log...

January 17 : SINGAPORE
Late wake up...but have to be ready for other destination....Little India to Mustafa Shopping Centre (24hrs shopping center - a must to go for cheap stuffs, such as chocolates, snacks, etc).
...walked to the left to the end of Eu Tong Sen Street, crossed the Coleman Bridge...to Hill Street...the old building with colourfull windows were so nice pictured.....walked till the end of the street then turn left to follow the Stamford Road where we saw the Singapore History Museum on the left side and Singapore Management University on the right side. We turned right for Selegie Road...walked straight and we arrived at Serangoon Road the Little India....a few more steps to reach Mustafa Shopping Center....
Hours at Mustafa, bought many chocolates Kit-Kat, Snickers as fave chocolate, and some others....Farly, Toar & Vlady have showed the moody faces....sorryyyyyyy. We got back to China Town took MRT Little India - MRT China Town....at the lunch time..lot of people inside...hungry hungry...
Having lunch at China Town....for me mee again and Farly, Toar, Vlady had chicken rice...after lunch Toar & Vlady bought durian crepes....yumyyyyy....on the way apartement, I & Farly bought Thailand young coconut (different with what we have in Indonesia, it's so tasty and smaller)....back to room for having a nap.
Woke up around 4pm, in hurry taking a bath..... ready for Orchard Walk...took a little walk to MRT Raffles, followed the Eu Tong Sen Street until found the 2nd cross road, turned right following North Canal Road till end then road to Chulia Street till end, the MRT Raffless was on the right. Took MRT Orchard....for about 5 minutes we arrived, exit...only few steps to reach the Orchard Road where there were big malls and international hotels chain....turned left wanna see the Orchard Parade Hotel (the hotel I stayed 1st time coming to Singapore..long long ago)....kids again bought ice cream that made them smile...and me took a picture in front of Orchard Parade.
We then walked back again ..to the opposite of the road....walked walked and walked....just walked....till the end of the road and met MRT Dhoby Gaut...after discussing, we decided to take a walk to China Town.....damn tired..."don't give up kids...it's our last night at Singapore ...we should enjoy this evening...take lot of food at dinner"
From Dhoby Gaut...end of Orchard, took the right side and followed the Stamford Road...met the cross road, turned right...at Hill Street now...just walked straight and met Eu Tong Sen Road....here we were....let's having dinner....
Back to apartment ....good night !

January 18 : SINGAPORE - JOHOR BAHRU - KUALALUMPUR
At 10am we were ready to check out...time to leave... Bye China Town !
We walked along the Eu Tong Sen Street to Hill Street ...road to Little India ...road to Bugis...what a chaos !!!....finally found the Bansan Bus Terminal...not far from MRT Bugis. Took SBS 170 for Johor Bahru....about 45 minutes reached the border, went to Singapore immigration to get the stamp....at bus again crossing the Causeway.....GOOD BYE SINGAPORE....we may come again !
Next stop at Malaysia border and got the enter stamp....The immigration building was so new and the sign board wasn't that clear...so we got lost because followed the wrong direction...we have to walk a bit far to get back ...what a pity ! Well....we got the bus finally...took about 15 minutes to arrive at Larkin Bus Terminal - Johor Bahru.
We have lunch at this terminal before hunting for bus tickets to Kualalumpur. Just like in Indonesia...'calo' is everwhere, here too and the ticket price was negotiable. The bus ticket was RM 32 (normal rate) but Farly got RM 27 after negotiating...not bad...the bus name : Star Bus...comfort enough.
For about 4 hours in bus with 1x stop for 20 minutes....arrived at Pudu Raya Bus Terminal - Kualalumpur around 7.30pm late in the afternoon... Welcome to Kualalumpur....
At Pudu, crossed the bridge to opposite road....turn right and walked straight along the Pudu Street...we passed on the left the Tong Shin Hospital and then open air public car wash (many cars here) ...took a small lane when turn left for short cut ....then walked to the left for few steps only (1 minute) then turned right where a row of old shophouses on the left...Anjung KL was just on the 2nd house with big sign board ....
Checking in...booked for family room, normal rate at RM 140 as we have booked a year ago then got special rate at RM 120 net per room per night, total for 2 nights = RM 240 plus RM 30 for deposit that we would get it back upon checking out. The room was clean enough, consisted of 1 double bed and 2 bang bed for kids....
After having shower, we left for dinner at Jalan Alor....took a short cut where abundant of garbage we have to pass...so so smelly....Jalan Alor is a lively street, a giant open air street restaurant at night (a must to try..) ....after a quick survey then we stopped at a restaurant with Indian look....Farly ordered nasi goreng masin, kids nasi goreng ayam, and me just nasi goreng....not that bad...could be said...nice, just nice...
After the dinner, we went to Bukit Bintang Walk where so many peoples on the road....just a little walk as some malls closed already.....Bukit Bintang in the evening ...
Back to guest house for sleeping....good night KL !

January 19 : KUALALUMPUR
Got breakfast at the guest house...toast bread, margarine, peanut butter....not bad....we liked it...some tourists enjoyed that breakfast too.... It's so homy guest house...small but nice and friendly atmosphere too...recommended !
We left for Petronas Twin Tower trying some short cuts...Petronas Twin Tower is the highest twin tower in the world (as the highest single tower is in Taipeh) ....as it was on Monday the skybridge wasn't open for public so we just took some pictures...on the way back to guest house we again have lunch at that indian restaurant and ordered the same as yesterday...but I didn't as I wanted to eat chinese food.
Farly got back to guest house and me with kids stopped at a little chinese restaurant just beside the guest house....and ordered mee (I missed badly)...it's ony RM 4...good enough..
Today, we didn't walk much....Farly took a rest, Toar with his new friend Frank from German, Vlady and me went to Time Square behind Sungai Wang shopping center....we saw the very big inside theme park at 8th floor of Time Square...afterward we left for Sungai Wang at Bukit Bintang where many cheap stuffs were here....we just had a look and Vlady collected brochures of mobile phone. Back to guest house.
In the afternoon, we (without Toar) left for China Town....but then Vlady was disappeared, Farly said he's fine, don't woryy...in the crowd of China Town we bought some souvenirs, t-shirt, key-chain, etc (we thought we have got special rate, in fact there's another cheaper)....From China Town of KL, we got back to Bukit Bintang and a stop at Sungai Wang (a recommended shopping center to buy cheap stuffs)...bought Toar's watch here. It's been dark so we stopped for dinner at Jalan Alor...nasi lemak ..so very good taste (recomended place to come)...the man's from Ponorogo - East Java, Indonesia. As it's good, so I ordered another 3 dinner-pack for kids.
When back, we saw Vlady was playing at internet....and Toar was busy with his new friend.
Time to sleep as we have to wake up early tomorrow for the skybridge.
January 20 : KUALALUMPUR - BALI
Alarm setting at 5am, we woke up, have a little wash then left for Sky Bridge. At 7 am we arrived and saw many peoples there at queue, althought the ticket counter would only be opened at 09.00am...later behind us so many people at long queue... (It's better to come as early as possible to avoid long queue...the ticket is free ..max they issue 3000 tickets in a day).
Finally we got the tickets for boarding at 09.15, but at 09.00am we were called for waiting at waiting room to see the history of the twin tower. At 09.15 we followed the procedure for the 41th floor and only permitted 10 minutes on the skybridge....that's fine....very beautiful panoramic of KL City, we saw.....photo photo and photo again....
Back to guesthouse at 10am, we have quick breakfast and put some more in bag ....hehehehe...After having shower, we checked-out and walked to Bukit Bintang Monorail. It's charged RM 2,1 per person for KL Sentral, and only took 15 minutes.
Arrived at KL Sentral, crossed the road and we found the Air Asia bus (red one)...paid in the bus for RM 9 per person to LCCT. It took 1hr 15 minutes. We still have much time before registration, so we have our lunch at Asian Chicken and waited there till time to report.
Our flight back by AK 904 at 16.40.....GOOD BYE MALAYSIA...till we meet again !
We thank GOD for making this trip happend.....
